HOSPICE

Hospice is a special way  of caring for people who are terminally ill and for their family.  The goal of hospice is to care for you and your family, not to cure your  illness. 

 Hospice services include: nursing, medical social services, doctor services, counseling, homemaker services, medical equipment, medical supplies, drugs for symptom control & pain relief, short- term care in the hospital, including respite care,  personal care, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy,  and dietary counseling.

Hospice care may be covered under:

1) Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance). To qualify for hospice you must meet the following criteria: a) You must be eligible for Part A( Hospital insurance). b) Your doctor and hospice medical director must certify that you are terminally ill and probably have less than six months to live. c) You must sign a statement choosing hospice care instead of routine Medicare covered benefits  for your terminal illness. d) The hospice program you choose must be Medicare-approved.
2) Medicaid
3) Private pay
4) VA
5) Some Private insurance policies
6) Some Hospices will accept indigent or needy clients who have no insurance or ability to pay.

Speak to your doctor to determine if you are an appropriate candidate.
