The Legend of The Stork
For a long time, the stork has been associated with childbirth. The stork is a fertility symbol and is associated with birth as well as spring. The delivering of newborn babies to their mothers by the stork is taught to children throughout America and Europe, with some people even believing that the stork can cause a woman to become pregnant merely by looking at her.

The stork tale revolves around the folk legend that the souls of unborn children lived in watery areas such as marshes, wells, springs, and ponds. And since storks are known to visit such areas frequently, they were thought to have gathered the babies' souls and delivered them to the parents.
What's A Stork Bite?
A "stork bite" is a birthmark found on the nape of the neck of some newborn babies, said to have been left by the stork. It is benign and typically disappears after a few months, although occasionally it can remain visible throughout adulthood.
What Is Stork Bytes?
Stork Bytes is a virtual birth announcement found on the East Alabama Medical Center web site. The name is derived from the term "stork bite." The change in spelling from "bite" to "bytes" emphasizes the fact that the announcement is being made through the computer.
