Lifeline subscribers wear a light, waterproof button which they can push to call for help at any time. The button works with a base unit, about the size of an answering machine, which is set by the telephone. When the subscriber pushes the help button, a person from the Lifeline monitoring service will call the subscriber back on the telephone. If Lifeline personnel are unable to reach the Lifeline subscriber, they will call a responder (a neighbor or a relative who lives nearby) to go check on the person who may need help. If help is needed, an ambulance or law enforcement personnel will be sent.
Lifeline subscribers are not bound to a contract for a certain length of time and can discontinue service whenever they wish. For more information on Lifeline or to sign up for this service, please call (334) 528-5891.
